My thought process in building my restaurant landing page
My task for the second week on WEJAPA Internship was to design a restaurant landing page for a friend’s restaurant. I shall attempt to take you on a journey as to how i arrived at my final product.
OVERVIEW
I tried to imitate as possible real life experience if i was asked to design a restaurant landing page for a client even while we are asked to use only high resolution images and typography while also following the design principles to a tee. My choice of restaurant was one solely revolving around african delicacies eaten in Lagos, Nigeria. I would go into details how i came about my designs in the next few minutes.
INSPIRATION
Before i did anything on my figma board, i had to go on pinterst,dribble and behance to have an idea on what restaurant landing page feels and look like. It made me understand the color combination often used and reason behind using such color tone as it resonates with the clients mood as well as text hierachy. i had the option of making use of the color yellow as it connotes happiness and positivity or purple which signifies royalty or luxury.
STYLE GUIDE
My style guide featured my base color and typography. I created a little palette of my ideal colors to design my landing page which also included my CTA color as well as my system colors. Also, my typography board consisted mainly of Montserrat and poppins font. I decided to make use of montserrat font for my headers and poppins for the body of my work.
WIREFRAME
As regards a wireframe, i did a little sketch on what i wanted my landing page to look like before embarking on a design. it should however be noted that a homepage is different from a landing page. While a landing page is like a brief of what the homepage looks like whereby one could take a cursory glance on what the site has to offer, while a homepage shows the full webpage featuring the landing page,about us page,contact us page and footer page.
FINAL DESIGN
I went a step better by creating a landing page as well as a homepage so as to further butress what i had previously explained in the wireframe section. Thanks to google and Dia Marufati (CHOBANI — LANDING PAGE), i was able come up with my own design which is shown below.
CONCLUSION
My design process was like a journey right from the start to the end, i was able to take my audience on a journey and keep them glued on why they should patronize our restaurant. Thank you for your time.
